50p Off Coupon at Asda

Options
In the may issue of the Asda Mag (which is free and and is in a rack in the entrance at my asda) there is a voucher for 50p off finesse cereal, but this can be used against any shopping, don't have to buy cereal. It worked fine for me tonight, so I picked another mag up on my way out.

My Asda will only take Asda coupons if they're NCH ones, which the one in the mag isn't. As yours does take them look out for the A5 breakfast leaflets they have in store. On the back page are several coupons - can't remember the expiry date.

So is this an Asda-specific coupon then?

Of late, I haven't seen any NCH coupons in the ASDA mags, so probably.

    What's NCH vouchers?

If you use self scan, will it recognise if you haven't bought the product?

    Thanks,

NCH Coupons go through the Coupon House and all retailers get back the money from them, it is a National Coupon System

    Thanks,

how do I know if it's an NCH coupon or not? And can I use self scan checkouts to use coupons for products I haven't purchased?

Thanks again - sorry if it's a daft question.....

The one in the mag is Asda only. The one in last month's mag was again Asda only but it was an NCH one (50p of a cleaning product).

If a coupon is NCH it will say so on the coupon. Lots of coupons aren't NCH but retailers still get their money back on them and are therefore happy to accept them (in my experience only Tesco, Asda and Waitrose do so). If they're Tesco or Sainsburys specific coupons then they should only scan if you've bought the product. Asda seems to accept it's own coupons even if you haven't bought the product.

Self-scan will accept coupons if you haven't bought the product but only if they're ones they can get their money back on i.e. if you try to use a 50p Tesco only coupon against Branston's pickle, it will only scan if you've bought the product. There was another thread on here where someone mentioned that their local self-scan tills are programmed to accept no more than 10% of your shopping total but my local self-scan tills accept unlimited coupons.

You will get watched if you start trying to scan 50 coupons. Find out what your local stores accept. My Tesco is one of any coupon and my Asda is a set percentage although on the self scan as long as you use no more than a few they don't impose the percentage limit.
