So I've just posted this... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1982203
And subsequently I'm on a mission to figure out how I can earn more cash.
I know this isn't the sole answer to my woes, as cost savings and better money management is also needed.

These are my thoughts and I'd welcome any feedback...

These are my thoughts and I'd welcome any feedback...
- I have a small but successful Wedding Photography business which does okay but due to my bad-management I'm left with a tax bill which I can't pay. If I had the capital I'd buy some studio lighting and have some leaflets made up and offer home portrait sittings. No capital though - grrr.
- Gardening. I'm not the best but some folks gardens around here just need that general, regular maintainance (lawns, borders de-weeding etc).
- Car Valeting - I've seen these for sale on eBay and they seem to be pretty simple to run, but again it's not having the capital to buy the equipment and leaflets which is prevenint me progressing this.

What feedback do you need on your ideas? For two of them you have no capital to get the equipment you need. For now these two ideas are a non starter.
Do you have the equipment for the gardening one? Give that a bash, but again if you have no capital for leaflets etc then give up now! When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
Leaflets for gardening and valeting jobs don't need to be particularly proffessional ones, just print at home and distribute.
Unlike the wedding ones, which you want to be proffesional to show what you can do, and need to be done from a printers, which is going to set you back at least £80 etc.
I'd also have a read through this forum for any other ideas you like the look of doing. Everyones different at what they like doing and what times they can put to it!0 -
i like surveys but they probably wont earn money as quick as you'd like0

I started doing surveys a while back, hardly seemed worth the effort. Then earnt about £25 on slicethepie which took forever as well. My neighbour has started his own little valeting business, seems to do ok but he has a rela interest in that kind of stuff rather than the polish chap in the tesco car park who probably scratches every car he does!0

Thanks for your responses.
I guess the feedback I needed was whather they are good, viable ideas that would work to return a reasonable income. If so then i'd probably look to saving some cash to use as capital.
For garden maintainance, I guess all I'd need is a lawnmower, extensin lead, some shears and a bag for waste. All of which I have.
Might try the cheap leaflet approach... thanks.borders_dude wrote: »What feedback do you need on your ideas? For two of them you have no capital to get the equipment you need. For now these two ideas are a non starter.

And of course a vehicle, more tools like fork, spade, axe or chain saw, public liability insurance and perhaps informing the tax officePrivate_and_Confidential wrote: »Thanks for your responses.

I am a big fan of PTC / Bux sites myself. I started them about 3 weeks ago and I am earning $30 a day so far. Not bad for just a little bit of clicking at a set time each day.
Of course you need to avoid the SCAMS which unfortunately is 90% of them. I do recommend the good/trusted ones though.0 -
I know a professional photographer who said he got rid of his studio as more families were asking for photos to be taken outside or at particular venues/sites. You may find therefore that you don't actually NEED a studio. More down to your ability as a photographer maybe! To promote your service yes, you will need some flyers producing but they haven't got to cost the earth just make sure they look professional!
And before you distribute them just about anywhere, think about who you are targeting. If you are after the family market, think about where you can meet these families in order to target them. Could you distribute them through schools or nurseries or baby clinics?
Hope this helps0 -

Can you / someone elaborate on this?0
