Slow cooker recomendations please??

I'm looking to buy a new slow cooker and need a bi t of advice. At the moment we have a tiny little 1.5l one which has been fab but we can only do enough in it for the two of us and depending on what we are making that can be a squeeze.

We are looking for something that has enough room for us to do a full stew for 4 people at least so that we can use it for when we have guests or we can do bulk cooking in it. If i get a really huge on then is it going to burn if i'm just doing a small amount?? What size would you recommend?

Any particular features or brands you would recommend??
