Tesco HAS stepped up the pressure on its rivals by mailing out of £67m of Clubcard vouchers to customers in a surprise pre-Christmas move.

It is the first time since the loyalty card scheme was launched in 1995 that Britain's biggest grocer has sent out a large chunk of its rewards, usually due in February, before the festive season. Tesco said it had returned more than £529m in cash-equivalent Clubcard vouchers this year. Carolyn Bradley, the company's UK marketing director, said: "It is basically a bonus for customers so they get rewarded early in time for Christmas. It's a nice surprise."
Tesco's Clubcard salvo came on the same day that the Co-operative Group – the UK's fifth-largest grocer after it acquired Somerfield this year – said it would offer customers £200m in savings, including its first triple Co-op dividend. Last month, Tesco and Asda promised their customers pre-Christmas savings of £250m and £150m, respectively.

I bought 4 of the Pizza Express small pizzas today at Tesco for 99p each after using the coupons from the GFS and also picked up 4 of the dough balls which according to the SEL were supossed to be free with any pizza express pizza. These went through however at £2.29 each, so £9.16 in total so I went to Cs & managed after a bit of arguing to successfully claim DTD of £18.32 back so was very pleased. Only thing was I forgot to use my £3 off £30 Somerfield voucher so was a bit cross with myself about that. I did get one pic a pac voucher through even though I hadn't bought the right cereal but of course that was only a 25p saving,lol!

Didnt we sign up for this several months back or is this a different one. I was expecting to have a calendar delivered soon like we did last year with coupons in the back or have I got this wrong?

the one we had a few months ago still said 2009 calender, this one says 2010, I recieved the link by email today

My friend went to MrT,s tonight and has reported back that they took all of her coupons without issue. Dont know if this was a mistake by the SA but she will try again tomorrow to see what happens. Lets hope that they are starting to relax their policy.

my store are not relaxing their coupon taking policy. last week one of the SAs said they had had another 'team 5' re-iterating what the policy was so no change for me!
