King Size of Double Bed???

I'm due to complete in two weeks, and just trying to plan things in advance.
I am not sure whether to go for a double or king size bed.

the room it's going in is:-
10'6" x 10'10
3202mm x 3287mm

Do you think it will be pushing it for a king size?
(I only plan to have a wardrobe & bedside tables in the room!)

Many Thanks

According to what I could find.

    A double bed is 4ft 6ins wide and 6ft 3ins long and a kingsize is 6ft wide by 6ft 6ins long.

Length difference is only a 3 inches but for the width 18 inches (if my really bad maths is any good)

Why not go and take another look with a couple of tape measures and see what it looks like when you measure out the size of a bed.

That's a super king size, king size is 5ft wide by 6ft 6ins

edit: fairly simplistic but have a play with the online MFI bedroom planner, put in the room measurements put a bed in there and see what sort of furniture you can fit. Apart from putting sticky tape on the floor of the room to get a feel for how big it is this gives you an extra idea of how big furntiure may be and lets you flip the bed round to different angles in case one way rond may be a better option

we're looking at a place with a room of similar size and we're keeping our Kingsize if we do move, unless the extra 6 inches width makes that much difference it should be ok, just avoid big wooden beds with huge legs at the end that could add 3-4 more inches all round, get a metal one without high ends and the footprint should be manageable

Doh yes it is 5ft so only about half a foot bigger.

I have lived in small one bedroom flat with a double bed and I hated it. As there was only about two foot on my side of the bed and about 3 or 4 foot gap on the other where the door was and the built in wardrobe. Did I say I hated it. It was way to penned in for me.

Mind you I am not very good at visualisation things. So I need to see it in the room before I can me a judgement :rotfl:

I always think a double bed is better, as bedding is a lot easier to get and cheaper too! Especially if its for your new place...good luck, hope it all goes well!

I'd rather have a nice nights sleep with the extra space around me than save money on the bedding. All depends who is sleeping in the bed, if you are over 6ft, a double bed isn't the best

I would always try to fit a kingsize bed if poss, because I like to stretch out. I'm not sure that you'll have the room for one though if you're planning on having a wardrobe AND opening the doors. If you could find a wardrobe with sliding doors it would give you more usable space.
I'm not very good at visualising so I make templates of furniture from sheets of newspaper & stick to the floor so I can check access to things. My OH is a bit pedantic & adds bits of string to show where doors open etc...

Yep, me too. The difference in price on the bedding is minimal anyway.

We have quite a small bedroom (similar size to your bedroom) and opted for a king size bed. Hubby is a body builder and I'm not exactly a waif :o so it was a bit a neccessity really. I was worried about the lack of space and feeling 'hemmed in' so we had mirrored sliding door wardrobes installed. It really opened up the room, and as it was sliding doors there was no need to allow for the space needed when opening.

I love my sleep so If I had my way I'd be going for a super kingsize, but that would be really pushing it :D

What I did was laid out in the rooms with newspaper on the ground the floor space that would be taken up by the furniture. I could easily tell how easy it would be to walk around.

    Cheers,
