Oh dear,
Just had an 'Eventful' 3 weeks with my Volvo Estate that had a fuel pump failure at home!!
I rang 4 'So called Mobile/Auto mechanics' but the 4 were a 'COMPLETE' waste of time!!
2 of them asked me to ring them back in 2 minutes ' I know what that means'
1 asked if he could tow away the car 3/4 of a mile up the road for 120.00 - No not a chance.
And the 'Worst' one was a young lad who promised to come out at 15.30 but never turned up at all or even rang me to say that he was not coming!!
What a 'COMPLETE' ******
I am not saying EVERY Mobile Mechanic is UNRELIABLE but it seems to be a certain type who is giving the trade a BAD name.
You can tell in their voice when you speak to them that they are not interested and don't 'Seem' to want to do the job?
Are they just 'Cherry' picking the work?
If they are then it is totally unfair to the stranded motorist at home!!
If they DON'T want the job then the should SAY SO in the 1ST PLACE SAY WHAT THEY MEAN and not WASTE anybody's time.
I found out afterwards that the lad who didn't bother to turn up is a 'COMPLETE' waste of time and is totally 'UNRELIABLE'
So why does he advertise then?
In the end I have found a Brilliant Mobile/Auto mechanic he is only young but as RELIABLE as the earth!!
He says he will be there he is there, And is very fair and efficient, He tells you what needs doing and takes it from there bit by bit.
I was even going to change the pump myself but I could have mad 3 jobs out of 1!!
I have LEARNT alot from this experience and it is an experience that I would not WANT to experience again.
What's wrong with these 'Self called' Mobile mechanics?
Is this trade regulated under VOSA etc?
I would be interested to hear other similar stories or from a RELIABLE Mobile mechanic themself.
There's nothing worse than a broken down car and a Mobile mechanic who is unreliable saying that they will come out and they don't bother to turn up!!
Best Regards.

Can I ask why you would be ringing any such company when you are paying RAC £57 per month presumably for such cover? Its not that we have more patience as we grow older, its just that we're too tired to care about all the pointless drama0

Yeah, I was under the impression the RAC would just come out and tell me what needed doing.
I doubt the RAC would have done the full repair?Thomson 757 Man0 -
