Idea for DFWs

Hi Everyone,

Don't know if any of you have done this yet or even if there has been a post about it (i'm relatively new!) but I've come up with a little table that is spurring me on to carry on and chip away at those debts.
I have worked out how much I will owe ever six months (approx) until my debt is clear and if I carry on paying the minimum, that way, i can look at JUN 07 for instance and if i owe less than what is on the table, then I can give myself a pat on the back! Plus, it reminds you that you will pay them off eventually, even if it will take a while. it looks something like this:

Jun-06 Dec-06 Jun-07 Dec-07 Jun-08 Dec-08 Jun-09

CAR 6,985.98 6,082.68 5,179.38 4,276.08 3,372.78 0.00 0.00

LOAN 4,853.00 4,355.00 3,857.00 3,359.00 2,861.00 2,363.00 1,865.00

CARD 2,648.87 2,348.87 2,048.87 1,748.87 1,448.87 1,148.87 848.87

TOTAL: 14,487.85 12,786.55 11,085.25 9,383.95 etc etc

I don't think it has come out too well, but do you get me?!:p

I think everyone on DFW has a spreadsheet :0) - so no, you are not alone & yes, it is a fab idea!! It really helps when you can see your debt going down, or what it will be in X month... You are doing a fab job, keep up the good work!! xx
  • I've got a spreadsheet and am quite obsessive about it, looking at it all the time, like looking at it will miraculously make those figures go down!!!:rotfl:

I've got a summary on mine so that I can see the debt going down each month. Getting there!!:j

    Good luck!

I'm glad I'm not the only one geekily obsessed with excel! I've got everything on mine, a budget planner, amount of debt I owe, how much I've saved, spending diary, the thing I posted above and a little section that works out how much I will earn per month after tax depending on what my yearly salary is using my tax code!!

Definately going to do the graph now!!!

I have not done that, have to say for some reason i am alittle unsure about them, but i will re-think my feelings as it is great motivation to watch the debt go down and it helps to keep the end goal in mind.

Love the graph idea very visual :D
