Beading at Milly Bridal

I have just asked Milly bridal if they have ever made
http://www.sotteroandmidgley.com/dress.aspx?pageSize=96&style=ASM3158 and they haven't but will make it for me and have listed all fabrics etc including the beads. listed in the bead section are swarovski crystals and czech diamonds at an extra charge:-

Beads
Glass beads, bugle beads, seed beads, etc. Japan made Matsuno beads (Also called MGB beads)
Czech Diamonds (at additional charge of USD $0.1 each)
Swarovski Crystals (size 5mm, at additional charge of USD $0.25 each)
Pearls

As I am going to bite the bullet and order it I would like to know if their normal beads will sparkle like the Maggie's in the shops or do I pay extra for the diamonds/crystals and how do i know how many they will use/charge for? How good are the normal beads?
Thanks

Many have been really pleased with their beading but I have the attitude (being a dressmaker) you get what you pay for. The authentic Swarovski Crystals can be expensive.
A lady who wanted a very heavily beaded dress from a chineses supplier was quite disappointed with the silver sequins they put on her dress rather than clear.Sort of gave it a tatty look (She didn't let on publicly I might add)
A recent bride from the forum however loved her beading, so it's as I say, if you really want the dress to sparkle like the Maggie, you should consider buying the original.

  • I was in a very similare situation, to get a milly/landy dress or the original. I asked about on a few threads on the quality of the dresses and most people seemed completely happy with them. The one thing that was pointed out to me was that the dress wouldn't be an exact copy but very very similar. My big sis pointed out that if it wasn't exactly the same I would have a freak and she would of been right so I opted to buy the original. I know it cost alot more but it wass the dress I wanted so was worth it! Really glad you settled on teh original

When i first saw the dress it was £900 but at a sample weekend but when I was going for the discount it was £1050. I got it for £785 in the end which i'm happy with.
I had also seen it in another shop for £950 full price. It seems to be that if the dress is physically in a shop it's £900 ish but if they don't have it they must go off some list price which is £1050?
