try using the cheapest baby wipes you can find (not big brand names)Lynzie Lou :dance:0

i have just googled and the yahoo site has a post on a similar topic, it was recommended not to use baby wipes as they can destroy the finish on your leather.
it recommends wiping over with a damp cloth as the natural oils in the leather do not dry out.family of six - grocery challenge - £480 monthly0 -
We use this
http://www.renapur.com/balsam.htm
It is expensive (although I dont think we ever paid that much) but it is seriously good stuff. We usually get it from the BMF bike show and a tub usually lasts 2 - 3 years for us and its used on shoes boots and motorcycle leathers. It keeps the leather really supple as it can dry out over the years.
ETA - Just checked we paid £10 for a tub in 2007 and we're not halfway down it yetMortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0 -
Hi
Can anyone tell me what to get to feed and protect O/H's Flying Jacket?
Thanks for any forthcoming help and advice.

I appreciate this isn't the most practical option for many people, but having horses I've tried countless leather care products and the best for conditioning are this or a mix of plain saddle soap and full fat milk (melted down and left to set).
The stuff in a tube is very good value for money actually, as you only need a teeny smidge on a sponge. To look after leather you need to stop it from getting excessively wet, dry it naturally and away from heat and when cleaning it dunk a sponge in hot water, wring it out as far as you can and then clean.Despite the name, I'm actually a laydee!0 -
As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it ot the existing thread to keep ideas together.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

we use almond oil, the sofa looks fantastic and the room smells lovely0

I use vaseline on my biker jacket (made in 1982, a year younger than I!) once a year to stop the leather cracking out. Just a thin layer, well rubbed in, and left somewhere for a day to dry in.0

Hi there
As I have finally managed to get hold of Stardrops, can anyone let me know if I can use it to wipe down my leather sofas instead of water alone?A smile costs little but creates much0 -
I wouldn't. Long-term use of any soaps, no matter how mild, will strip materials of their natural oils and natural oils are what keeps leather supple and long-lasting.0
