i posted a few weeks ago about next passing my debt on to a collection agency
today i had a card through the post which i know is from them by the address on it.
it states they are comeing out between 5.30 and 7.30pm
what can they do when they come out i assume they are going to take stuff away its stressing me out now, spent 2 days at hospital with contractions and now ive just had this card
i have tried calling them back to get them to accept what we can afford but they want 220.00 now as such
any ideas?

They need a court order to send in the bailiffs.
The only goods they can remove are their own. i.e. If you bought a telly on HP it remains the property of the finance co until you have paid for it.
Even then, after paying x% they need a court order.0 -
Go and see CAB - if the letter appears threatening then they are breaking the law. Since the advent of a number of high profile suicide cases as the result of threatening collections letters, creditors need to ensure that they are not potentially letting someone think that they are in danger of losing their freedom etc. Make a note of anything you have purchased from them and try and find out when they plan on coming around so that you can have another person there too.£4000 challenge

i have had lots of those letters over the past few years having had my head burried firmly in the sand
i have never opened the door to them even once. they will just try to use sales techniques to get you to agree to pay them back at a rate higher than you can afford and you will end up messing up the arrangement.
its way better to get a budget together and then send them an offer of how much you think you can pay in writing.
read the letter carefully again - bailifs don't tell you in advance that they are coming, but then the bailifs won't come unless something has gone as far as court and the judge has found against you - if this is the case you would know i'm sure
good luck0 -

My friend who I share a house with had a few of these , they didn't specify a time just between date X and date Y but nobody ever came round (if they did and we were out they didn't leave anything to say that they had called).
It could just be scare tactics, as others have pointed out bailiffs only call after it has been through the courts.0 -
Try not to worry about this, it is only their scare tactics, certainly don't open the door to them if they call. Look after yourself and your family, you are far more important than this debt.

If anyone strange comes to the door, no matter where they say they are from, ask to see a picture id first. I have gathered from others, that debt agencies are not above saying they are from somewhere else to get in, even though this is illegal.
If the collection agency do come, do NOT let them in. They do not have the right of entry, only bailiffs do. They have to get a court order first.
Best of luckI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?

Thanks for all the advice well nobody has turned up today however the card has no date of which they are intending to come so it could be they are trying to scare me into ringing and paying full amount(which if i had it i would pay it just to get them off my back)DFW nerd club number 039
