Cheap fancy dress ideas?

Hey guys

I've been invited to a fancy dress party on hallowe'en and am struggling with ideas for a costume! It's an annual thing and I went last year, and people put so much effort into their outfits, it was wonderful - this year I'm really pinching the pennies but still want to put the effort in and join in with the spirit of it all.

The theme is bad taste/politically incorrect, and I have 30 days to come up with something for me and my husband while spending as little as possible. Any ideas would be highly appreciated!!

  • It's hard thinking of bad taste/politically correct dress ideas. I can think of a few for your husband but none for you so far..

Harold Shipman - cheap doctors outfit from ebay, maybe platter some 'blood' on it - I know this isn't how he killed his victims but it adds to the evil effect.
A peodophile - thick glasses, anorak (probably cheap from charity shop), packet of sweets
A gollywogg - this is my fave idea it's politiclly incorrect and such a fun looking outfit, but might not be that cheap

Just a thought, if your hubby went as HS you could dress up as a little old lady as his victim and if went as a peodophille you could dress up as a little girl!

Gary Glitter and a little girl *wince* That would truly awful but they might not let you through the front door. :o

erm, for bad taste you could wear lots of clothes all at once in every colour you can think of- mismatched socks, green, pink, orange, clashing patterns.

    Monica Lewinsky and Bill Clinton.

Heroin addicts- pale faces, needle marks, dark circles under your eyes, grubby looking clothes.

Husband could go as a stereotypical flasher- trenchcoat and glasses.

If you smoke you could shove a cushion up your jumper and smoke throughout the evening.

    Go as chavs.

    Terrorists.

    Michael Jackson complete with drip.

Nun and monk and wear your underwear on the outside.

You could black up and go as The Black and White Minstrels.

    Hitler.

Found this on t'internet too. NOT A PLEASANT IMAGE! http://media.photobucket.com/image/bad%20taste%20fancy%20dress/sppennywise/HalloweenCostume2.jpg

  • *lol* definitely some good ideas, thanks guys... We did think of Gary Glitter and a schoolgirl, but apparently someone's already beaten us to it! Plus I can't think how i'd create him without spending much... Another friend has also said he's going as Michael Jackson, dressed in his Thriller outfit and slightly, erm, mouldy :lipsrseal So basically anything goes - I just can't bring myself to do anything too awful tho! The Harold Shipman idea might be worth looking into

I think Chav may be the easiest and cheapest to do. We all have items in are wardrobe that when worn together would make us look like a chav.

Tracksuit bottoms I use for the gym, trainers I use when walking, a baseball cap borrowed from someone, some fake gold jewelry bought from the fancy dress shop (£3), bumfluff mostache if you are a man, hooker makeup if you are a girl, baby bump if you are a girl, black eye if you are a man, cheap tin of larger, lovebites all down your neck, zip up hoody.

I would personally do MJ zombie style keeping with the halloween theme and bad taste.
