Nyk - just called into our C00p (to check Whoopsies) en-route to A1di for milk..... and since I was last in on a Whoopsie hunt (probably Sunday) several big posters have been put up announcing 'this store will cease trading on Saturday 31st October'
Will have to wait and see what we get in its place - but a nice frozen food centre (like F@rmf00ds or Icel@nd) would be goodCheryl0 -
Oh, Nyk, how sad about the red panda. If you see me on here - shout at me to get off and go and get something useful done!!0

Good afternoon frunchkins:D
Just a quick catch up on here before i go and host a joint party with the oldies and the kids from the youth club again, about 30 oldies and 20 kids so should be lively to say the least. After that I will be hightailing it up to frugaldom for the weekend:j:j:j
have a great weekend everyone0 -
SF, like SM says, you'll learn how to control the classroom of kids, my guess is that you keep the upper hand and don't ever let them think that they're in control of you, but that's probably why I'm not cut out to be a teacher.

My advice is simple. Go in strong, you're not there to be their best mate. They'll respect you more if boundaries are clear. Make sure you're top dog. Some teachers I know don't even smile for the first half term. After which you'll have them eating out of the palm of your hand and be able to relax. Always stay calm, even when things get out of control through no fault of your own. And be positive. Teaching is like a performance..the children will learn if they are stimulated and entertained. Hope that helps.
I found my PGCE one of the hardest yet most rewarding things I've ever done and by the end of it I'd worked so hard they would have had to chuck me off the course, I'd invested too much to consider leaving. Good luck my dear and PM me if you need just to chat

Thanks for thatI am beginning to realise just how hard this year is going to be! I am going to go in there being clear about boundaries, and what I expect from my classroom and each pupil. Easier said than done though! I start teaching full classes after half term, so I've got a bit more time to get used to the idea, and then its full on from there on in! I may need someone to talk to once it gets a whole lot harder, so thanks

Hi all,
I don't post very much, but i'm with you all in spirit.
After applying many of the principles on this thread, I am pleased to report that I am now debt free as of today, and happily living on a much smaller budget.
Thank you for all your ideas and inspiration. A former spendthrift has fully converted to the frugal principles.I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -

:T:jWELL DONE!
CW - Will keep an eye open on what's happening with our C0-0p, not heard anything about it since S0merfield's closed then got sold to Aldi. Our C0-0p IS in the type of location you would expect to find something like Farmf00ds/Iceland - no adjacent car park but next to a bus stop. Or maybe that's just my old Farmf00ds/|ce|and that was like that?
Horrible weather here so I'm off to bed early with my hot blackcurrant juice to watch a DVD - much warmer than sitting here.I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

My closest Icel@and doesn't have an 'adjacent' car park, but there is one across the road from the back entrance -- just it's a very expensive 'pay and display' one. But it's not a long walk from the bus station.
There's a (very small) F@rmfoods by the same car park, and closer to the bus station, but there's also a much larger one the other side of me which has a large free carpark outside (shared with a Nett0).Cheryl0
