bails I have thought about this and I may do it for the main 3/4 years. The course starting in January is a foundation course and just 12 weeks long.
Having said that, I've not actually been very good at the 'stoozing' thing and so I may still stick with the original plan of not having any extra debt. I guess it depends how well I do at sticking to my budget and getting the credit cards paid off.
I do appreciate the advice, though.0 -
I spent another £7.24 at costc0 on baking stuff today but that's my ingredients cupboard topped up now for the new year.:D OH is planning to give up meat, fowl and fish completely once the stuff in the freezer has been eaten, I have decided to join him, so won't need to budget for that in next year's food allowance and have enough pulses and nut roasts etc ordered from AF to do us for a loooong time, when added to my current stockpile
Need to plan the veggie growing better this year and get planting soon I think.0 -
sophiesmum are you both giving it up for health reasons? The best I can get my family to manage is one or two veggie evening meals a week!0

Ouch to all those who have been in accidents over the last few days! I hope you all are recovering ok.
Bails - hope you find a home for the puppy and :j  :T on being offered the job! I hope the pay and T&Cs are suitable.Good luck with the travel budget too... presumably the new job would take off some of the financial pressure? It would be such a shame to miss out on your planned trip of a lifetime...
We are having 2 Xmas meals at my work this year - one this week and one next week but I'm only going to one of them. One is for our whole building but it wasn't very good the last time I went -a bit too formal and not too much fun - so I'm not going. I'm going to our lab one instead where the usual outrageous chaos that marks one of our Xmas parties will ensue I'm sure...Lets hope everyone is sober enough to make it to the meal and no-one gets hurt by flying clothing this year... Its usually good fun but it got a wee bit out of hand last year! I have no idea why the same restaurant is letting us back again... it was carnage last year!
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

Bails - Congratulations on the job offer, I hope they can work something out that suits you.
Sorry I haven't been posting on here much but only have enough time to skim read at the moment.
The childminding has really taken off and now that my other job is not finishing for the time being I have very little time for anything during the week. At the weekend most of our time is now taken up with the woodland ,it is officially ours now :j:beer::beer::j We spent last weekend digging out the new gateway in the pouring rain (new gate fitted today) This weekend will be spent trimming and tidying as it has been left for quite a while.
I will post my budget for next year when I have the time to sit down and work it out. I think I will need two different budgets as the woodland will require quiet a lot of funds for the first year
Hope everyone is well

OH doesn't really like meat he is a fish person, but we have gradually being eating more veg and pulse based meals without realising even - so have decided to go the whole hog once we have used stuff up. It isn't a conscious decision on health grounds or on animal welfare grounds more a realisation that our tastes are gradually changing that way.
We do plan on still eating eggs0 -

Well, I made mushroom risotto for dinner tonight. 2 out of 4 children liked it. I liked it. DH didn't try it. I don't think I could get them to go full veggie, though just 1 or 2 meals a week does bring the food costs down.0

OH likes stuff like five bean chilli with rice, potato cheese and onion scallops done in the oven (lovely winter comfort food), veggie curry, jacket spud with cheese and beans, vegetable based quiches, stir fry, pasta dishes with cheese, tomato or veggie based sauces, ratatouille, fritata, colcannon, roast dinner minus the meat, veggie lasagne, quorn based dishes, cauliflower cheese, etc0 -
I'm sorry for being so rubbish at updating lately - my life is so hectic right now! I finish term on the 18th (thank goodness) and its the Christmas Carol service next week, so being a Music PGCE student, I'm in rehearsals every lunch time, after school, I've got deadlines coming out of my ears, as well as lesson plans and evaluations! I tell you what, I'm SO SO SO looking forward to just being able to go home.
Today is my 6th NSD for December, which isn't too bad going, considering its only the 9th today. I'm going to the BF's this weekend as we're going out for a meal with his family, so that'll be at least two days where I'm going to spend money, but I'm looking forward to it thoughI got a £25 T0pSh0p voucher for my birthday, so I might see if I can get a nice top or something to wear for that on saturday
I hope everyone is okay, I do read the thread most days, I promise! And big (((HUGS))) to those who have had injuries lately, they don't sound too good
Bails, congrats on the job :j :j
have a good evening everyone x xBe who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.
