Roof Bars and Roof Boxes

I've been looking for some bars and a box to go on top of my car. I couldn't find anything here on MSE so I thought I'd post my findings. I needed bars to fit my specific car which has fixing points instead of a any kind of gutter or rail. After shopping around I found an enormous range of prices or the same stuff. A few of the cheapest suppliers I could find were the following:

I ordered from LeisureShack by phone. They were the cheapest and provided some great advice. Delivery was very reasonable at £6.95 for bars and box.

skidrive.co.uk would have been on the list if their customer service hadn't been so apalling - I couldn't even complete the order without them losing interest, god knows how they would have handled a problem..

Anyone else reading this thread should be aware that IKEA used to sell (I haven't been for a while so cannot be certain they still do this) roof bars by the delivery department. (they weren't in the shop part but beyond the tills by the place where you sort out your delivery details. I got a pair of roof bars for my Peugeot 306 there for around £25, which is a lot cheaper than some of those sources below.
They had a good variety of bars for various differnt vehicles so I'd suggest you suss them out before spending twice as much.

I found this one too but the poor quality of the web site (animated arrows indeed!) put me off completely.

We did lots of shopping round on these type of sites and then found that it was nearly half the price to buy the specific ones for our car direct from Volvo! Picked them up from the local franchise, easy to fit as they are manufactured for the model.

Really pleased with them, and very happy at the saving. Don't neglect to check with your local dealer.

No way! Lucky you I say, I didn't even think of asking BMW, the usual answer is "Twice the usual price"..
