  • actually...Halifax loan i have...I have my current account with them also...i have read on another thread they can take money out of savings account anyway to cover what you say you dont have?? The £140 I have in the savings account is for my Tax/MOT this month...
perhaps i could call them to find out where i stand for just 1 month break...and perhaps to be put on end of term so i in effect just pay loan for 1 month later than usual....as things done by post take too long...for reply etc...due out 14th of the month..

    Hi doodles,

I'm no expert and hopefully one will be along soon but I would be very careful with this. Is there any way you can get the cash out of your savings and pay for your MOT and tax in cash? You could do this before you let on that you are going to miss the payments.

    Good luck!

when I called Virgin they passed me from dept to dept to yet another dept LOL I was also out of contract but to secure the deal they placed me back into another contract. It was after this contract finished they raised the cost, to a 'normal' price. I complained said I'd never been told it would revert to a normal price and they reduced it again
  • ah thanks shelldean - will av a go then lol

thanks also KATY83 - this had crossed my mind - think is bst way to go with it!!!

Speak to your mobile phone company, i just told vodafone i was going to have trouble paying them £35p/m in the future as i was out of work and they have knocked 10 pounds a month off and changed the tarrif for me, i was only half way through an 18 month contract, im not sure what the policy is for your contract but i have have been told that i can reduce my tarrif each month on a rolling basis after that by 5 pounds per month until its at a level im happy with, its got to be wortha try

Hey doodles, I seem to keep bumping into you.....

Quit using Allen Carr's Easy Way for Women to Stop Smoking. Tried many, this one worked (well for 18 months, then a slight relapse)

Or if you really cant manage to quit yet.......

Switch the ciggies to roll ups.... bye some little filters and a rolling machine (our local market sells them cheep, and Ive seen them in the pound shop) a bag of baccy lasts at least a week and costs about a tenner. Spend a few minutes each evening rolling some for the next day. You get used to the different taste really quickly and after a while 'real' ciggies taste all chemically.

Certainly try haggling with Virgin Media - I was with Telewest and had their start up package and then they were absorbed into Virgin Media but I still have the starter package although my broadband fee has gone up from £11 to £18 a month, I still get my landline (weekend calls free) and my telly which is £5.50 a month (grand total I usually end up paying each momth is around £34. I am crafty with my phone calls and although I get free weekend calls, I put a timer on so when 59 mins is up I put the phone down and then ring back.

They have tried to tempt me into taking a bigger package but have explained to them that I don't watch most of the channels anyway and have gotten used to not watching them - occasionally they boob too and I can watch channels like Nat Geographic so I watch them whilst i can and then move onto something else when they disappear:D
