What have I done to my dishwasher?

Options
PLEASE HELP!!

I am trying to do the May benefit challenge in the DFW forum and had no money left for dishwasher tablets. So instead of doing it by hand like any sensible person would, I put the washing up liquid in the bit of the dishwasher where I would normally put the tablet.

It won't stop frothing everywhere!!! My whole kitchen is froth. I've put it on another 4 times hoping that it will rinse the bubbles away but each time it just seems to froth more and is still coming out all over the kitchen!!

Can anyone tell me what to do?

It will clear eventually. Dishwashers like washing machines use a non sudsing cleaner.

I very much doubt you have done any damage.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • I did the same and it will eventualy clear. I kept putting mine on the quick cycle. Good luck

Im sure it will be fine, but next time, try using some washing powder instead, ive used it before and it has been fine.
  • I forgot to add, thanks to this site I only use half a dishwasher tablet per wash and everything still comes out as clean. I use a whole one when I'm doing the baking trays.

I was using half a tablet before this disaster. Putting washing powder in instead sounds good - do you fill up the little tablet space or just half full?

I think you use a teaspoonful of washing powder.

Put a good skuirt of hair conditioner in the bottom of the machine and run a rinse cycle. Conditioner kills all detergent suds IME. I often use it in the return bucket of my vax to kill the suds from cleaning my carpets in regular washing powder (having a top-load machine I still buy the old fashinoed high-sudsing sort) and I never have a prob with the vax oversudsing. You could try putting some bicarb in it in the next wash which might burst some of the bubbles before they make it to the kitchen floor.

I bought handwash washing powder by mistake once and put it in my washing machine and it frothed everywhere.
