Joint mortgage, ex has serious debts

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is in the right sub-forum, but I hope someone can give me some advice while I wait on an appointment at the CAB!
I split up with my ex after almost 5.5 years in July, due in part to his keeping the full amount of his debts a secret from me, despite visits from debt collectors at the door. I still have no idea just how much he owes, and who to.
I'm not totally convinced that he is paying these off, as a letter recently arrived from the courts service (return address was for the attachment of earnings team - after a while you know the look of the envelopes, and google is a great invention!).
My question is this: what happens if it gets to the stage where they (the people he owes money to) start to look at his interests in the house which we jointly own through the mortgage? There are no arrears on the mortgage, we don't have a joint account, and none of his debts are jointly in my name.
Unfortunately, it's not an option to remove him off the mortgage, as much as I would love to.
Thanks for any help anyone can give, and if you need to know more information, just ask!

You are financialy link through the mortgage get you credit file now this will probably show some of the debts.
They can go after his share of the equity.
So whats the place worth and whats the mortgage?
They will need to do a few other things first but is they have attachment of earning it is likely that ther have allready been court proceedings and jusgments.
There might be a way to access these for free.0 -
I've already checked my credit report, there's nothing on there, apart from a joint account which, according to the bank was never opened.
The outstanding mortgage is about 155k, I'm not sure what the house is worth now, but I'd bet that it's less than that, so negative equity comes into play too.
He paid the deposit, which was about 10k, but hasn't paid for anything else that's gone into the house, e.g. sofa, tv, washing machine etc.
Do you know how to access the proceedings?
Thanks for your help.0 -
Have you checked all the credit reports I would expect to see the mortgage it was on ours.
No idea how to get court info free I had a look and there are pay places on line.
If negative equity, then if he is made bankrupt you should be able to buy out the official recievers interest for next to nothing.0 -
Sorry, yes the mortgage is there - I just meant that his debts don't appear at all.
Thanks for the help!0
