See an IFA how close to retirement?

I will be 60 in June next year. I have a civil service pension (lucky me!) and about £30,000 in two separate avcs.

How long approximately will it take an IFA to sort out my avcs so that I can take all my pensions at the same time.

I should add that the retirement dates are flexible, I hope to retire somewhere between 60 and 62 at the moment.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I would talk to the fund trustees first to get all the options.

This will give you good info for your meeting with an IFA or may even negate the need for an IFA, if one of the options is a no-brainer for your circumstances.

Are you able to amalgamate the AVCs and the pension together and then take the cash lump sum entirely from the AVCs?If so, this is a very good deal.

This is not possible in the Civil Service Schemes.
