Name off mortgage - solicitor rip off!!!

just wondered if anyone can help me, trying to take my name of a joint mortgage and this will be the third time that i have done this. (im very unlucky when it comes to buying a house with someone i love as we then split up - NEVER AGAIN will i buy a house with someone lol) The first time (19) my name was taken off i just signed a form at my ex's mum house. the 2nd time (24) i was buying a house at the same time so it was all done together (the house then fell through) and then this current time (28), i rang the solicitor and they want to charge me £200+ to take my name off. do i have to go through a solicitor? my ex's solicitor is obv doing all the work so surley i shouldnt be charged to do the same work again? i am confused. sureley his solicitor are the ones that willl be drafting up the paperwork and sorting it, sureley i could just go there and sign at his solicitors?

    Fairly standard for TOE fee.
  • Event though he has to pay his solicitor and all i have to do is sign a form?
  • 200 sounds cheap.
  • my point being is i havent paid for this before even though its happened on two previous occasions. his solicitor is doing all the work, what on earth is my solicitor doing for £200+ that they arent? is this not duplicating the work?!!!

Hopefully, safeguarding your interests and at £200 cheap at the price.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • "His" solictor will be protecting his interests and not yours. You are paying £200 for a soilictor to ensure your interests are protected and the change is all legal & bound.

For all you know there may be a legal loop-hole your ex / partner could put in very fine print of a doucment which you do not understand / see and then you are stumped . I really wouldn't squabble about £200 , imagine if for some reason he got reposseed and you found out that in the small print you are still bound to the mortage, then in affect you are bankcrupt and in debt ...

    £200 cheap as chips!
