White Vinegar vs NBC

Okay, so I've been using white vinegar for fabric conditioner for a couple washes, and also for a few other things round the house. Now Im looking for a cheaper supply.
Mum cleans her kitchen with clear NBC, and says it does same job, even though we both know its not actually vinegar. Thing is as I'm useing it for fabric conditioner I'd rather avoid the artificial vinegar.
Is this fair, or am I just predjudiced against manmade stuff?
Does white vinegar perform better than white NBC? I can imagine that the acid of NBC would do a reasonable job of destroying bacteria, much as vinegar does, but is there anything in vinegar that produces a particularly good effect?
In short should I continue to buy pint sized morrisons white vinegar, while I search for a better supply oram I just as well off going to any grocers and grabbing NBC?

Thanks Twink, in that case, i would say i would carry on using vinegar, as the reason i use it (vinegar) is so that im not using the artificial/chemical products!!!!0
