Thread veins

I have three of these on my face and wondered if there is anything that can be done about them other than cover them with make up, they really annoy me especially as I did them to myself with over enthusiastic exfolliating before I was older and wiser;)

(I'm not following you round the board, promise!!)

I had mine lasered off! It made a huge difference. They vanished instantly & have remained gone. However it did cost £100 so not very MSE, but there isn't really another solution bar covering them up that I know of.

Where did you have your 'lasering' done? Did you shop around, or was it a recommendation? Have had thread veins on my face for 20 years. I think £100 sounds cheap for the difference that it would make and if I added up all the 'wonder creams' that I have tried over the years, I could have paid probably have paid for laser treatment 3 times over!!!

I have these on my legs, lasering for that would be more than I could afford at the moment so for now I am trying a creme called 'Vein Eraser' I bought it online for around £13 I think. says you have to use it twice daily for 5 weeks or so to notice a difference. I haven't been using it that long yet but may as well give it a go while saving for the laser treatment maybe?

I had an intensive course of light treatment for my spots (mostly all gone) an course of microdermabrasion for acne scars (hugely improved!!) & finally laser for the veins. It cost a lot all in, but as you say, less than I have spent on creams/potions etc over the years & has totally transformed my face!

I had it done at the Hove Skin Clinic (East Sussex) which is run by consultant dermatologists, some of whom still practice at the local hospital as well. Recommended by the consultant dermatologist my GP referred me to. There are a lot of places hat offer it but this was the best & I I was pleased it was so well regarded.

Maybe ask your own GP? :)

Thanks everyone for the replies, I really don't fancy laser treatment so I guess its covering them up for me, their not that bad they just annoy me, I'm not sure if I'm getting confused with broken capillaries they kind of look the same:confused:and as far as I'm aware they are treated the same as well. FelinePrincess, my 14 year old has thread veins on her face and legs for no apparent reason so I guess its luck of the draw but I know I did mine to myself:rolleyes:

  • I have loads of the darn things on my cheeks. Tried the lasering a couple of years ago. but it was darned painful and results didn't last for me. So gave up on that tack.
Somebody recommended a mineral powder by "Bare Essencuals" ( available online about £15) called "Multi Tasking" - I use the "Bisque" colour and it's brilliant. No more foundation and concealers, just a quick tap of the powder and a swish with a soft brush - all covered with no evidence! Highly recommended.
  • My friend had bad thread veins around her nose and also on her cheeks. She didn't want to have laser therapy, after reading horror stories about scarring. She read about Dr Newman's Clinic in the Daily Mail and booked in to get treated by Dr Brian Newman at his Manchester clinic. Having spent hundreds of pounds on make-up to cover up the veins, she is now happy to have the money back in her pocket as her veins have been cleared up. It is non-invasive so she had it done in her lunch break and then headed back to work. Don;t have the contact details but if you search Dr Newman and vein you'll probably find him.

    Hope this helps.
