Spending Virgin Flying Miles - Help!

Hi,

I have 5336 flying miles from a holiday I took last year and they are due to expire. Im not planning a holiday within this time so was wondering if there were any other ways I could spend them?

Thanks

  • If you log into your flying club account and go to spend miles it will show you what options are available.. unfortunately I dont think there is much you can do with so few miles.

Yes ive logged in and had a look but everything I saw needed a minimum of 12,500 so was just wondering if I had missed something. Thanks for the replies

I transferred all my Virgin miles to Hilton Honours. Much more useful imho.

You can extend the expiry date of your miles by adding some more to your account ISTR - here are some suggestions:

VS have clickthrough portal on the flying club website - a bit like quidco, but your purchases earn you FC miles.

Car rental or hotel stays where you give your VS FC number and you get miles awarded.

VS Amex credit card from MBNA - a few thousand miles when you make your first purchase and then for each pound you spend on the card.

Check the fine print on this deal though, I was sent a letter in the post about this and thought it was a good deal until I read the annual card fee was circa £115.00 - doesn't then make it a bargain.

I've got flying miles through MBNA credit card. They had a expiry limit of 2010 but if I use the card they increase the time limit.

My MBNA doesn't have an annual fee

The black card comes with a higher earning rate, more bonus miles at the start and an annual fee. The white card comes with less earning miles, fewer bonus miles and no annual fee. I have the white, but if you fly on VS a lot/spend a lot on your Amex card, then the black card is worthwhile.
