White spirit? I say that because DH managed to get Plumber's Mate EVERYWHERE when he was plumbing in a new basin and it was really gungy but white spirit just lifted it off. I usually find that if white spirit doesn't lift something, then meths willIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Thanks all. Have made some progress - the WD40 definately helped remove the general stickiness, but now using a metal filler spreader thing to get off the bits.
Think I'll spray the WD40 over all of it to stop it being sticky, do as much as I can, then leave the rest to come off over time!
Yes - it is an Ikea mat!!Now proud Mumto3 :j0
