Hi, I wondered if anyone could help me with the rumour that I ahve been told about holiday rights for temps who have completed 12 weeks work. I am temping for a company, no agency involved, and have been here 16 weeks. A friend said she thought I was entitled to holiday benefits. I trawled the web yesterday but couldn't find anything of use- does anyone know?

Everyone, temp or not, is entitled to 28 days paid holiday (pro rata for part time). This right starts at day 1 of your employment.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

You shouldn't be paying to build up holiday - you are legally entitled to paid holiday.tintysteph wrote: »ok, i am a temp, and money is deducted from my pay to cover holiday... i think it is about 75p per hour they take off me, so i can accrue holiday. I belive they ruled that rolled up holiday was allowed as long as it was transparent, and that this still resulted in the NMW being paid.
Quite a lot of agencies pay holidays in this manner quoting a rate of pay which includes holiday pay, then deducting the proportion to be held in a "pot" which is visible to the temp. If they didn't "deduct" the money, then they would just pay a lesser rate and the holidays wouldn't be as visible to the temporary worker.
As far as entitlement goes, anyone, even agency workers start to accrue holiday from day one of working. You are entitled to 5.6 weeks per year including bank holidays."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." You have made a typo error on your calculation here. The 5.6 is what you mulitply your working week by.
For a basic calculation of your leave allowance multiply the number of days you work a week by 5.6. For example, if you work a five day week you would be entitled to 28 day' annual leave a year:
5 days x 5.6 weeks = 28 daysShop Steward in industry fighting the never ending battle of fairness.0
