Business taken over and being fobbed off

Options
Hi,

I previously had a small internet business with a Ltd company for a number of years they were "taken over" in their words earlier this year by a company trading under a similar name.

I have since tried to move my business elsewhere ie. take my website and its content elsewhere but my log-ins etc do not work anymore and I cannot find the original documentation although I can prove hosting/domain work was done by the "old" company through invoices and in one instance the Whois record does show one of my domains on one of their servers. (albeit an old one).

I have asked them to provide details of my account etc but the "new business" is claiming to have no record of my previous custom or business and is refusing to help, surely as I have pointed out as part of their due diligence they would have records of this??

Anyone advise, as I am in limbo with this.

Thanks

Del

What is the name of this hosting company?

Did they get taken over or did they cease trading first?

If it's the latter, you've probably got no chance.

Post the name of the company please (old one and new one).

    Does your website still work???

  • Hi thanks for the response.

I would rather not name and shame at the moment so to speak but what I can say is:

Original company XYZ Ltd (who I had account with) - per Companies House -

    Incorporated Nov 2005
    Dissolved - 22 September 2009

New Company XYZ Services Ltd (Confirmed had "bought out above")

    Incorporated 11th February 2009.

Essentially my site would work if I could access it, all I need is to host it somewhere - they failed to re-register my original site .com name and I lost it, now acquired the .co.uk version and can obviously point the site to that....

In short I need my website and access details back, all of which they claim not to have or records of....

The new company has since sold a .biz version of the same trading name which I was using (quite unique) and even the logo is too similar even down to the font type....all conicidence for people who claim not to know anything about it...maybe its me!!

Anyone have any ideas on this and where I can go???

Had email from new company who claim they bought all "active" websites and nothing else so cannot help and do not have forwarding contact details for original owner.
