Citifinancial have lied to me on two occasions..

Hello all, this is my first post, so please be gentle ;)

I have a loan with CitiFinancial, when I was made redundant, rang them and organised a three month plan of paying £10 a month (at which time I was one month in arrears) under the condition that I pay these three 'token payments' and after which, they would add the arrears onto the back end of the loan, and I'd continue to pay £230 from then on.

I rang up today to make my final instalment of £10, and was told that unless I pay £230 there and then, it will be getting passed onto a debt collection agency - thus bypassing our original agreement, putting me £920 into arrears with god knows how many charges for the debt being passed along to another company.

After going down the official complaints procedure, was told that what had been agreed originally, wasn’t going to be honoured - and again, that if I didn’t pay the full monthly amount it'll be passed a collection agency.

Can they do this?! I feel completely cheated, and it doesn’t help they don’t seem to know what’s going on, or have facility to add notes to their system, meaning I've got to go through the same thing every time I call up/speak to another department.

Can anyone help me?!

Thanks in advance!
