Thanks for your replies, going to try a few.
I have just started to watch come dine with me (love it) and some of the things they make seem simple.
There was one I think you cut pears in half, sugar over them and then fry them!!!!!! I think

Yummy pud which my pudding-hating son will fight everyone else for:

In a reasonably large dish, put a punnet of strawberries, washed, hulled and halved.

On top of this, pour a packet of ratafia biscuits. If you can't find those, use half a packet of amaretti biscuits, which you have lightly crushed in your hands as you put them in (so they are broken bits).

Pour a tub of half-fat creme fraiche on top. Sprinkle liberally with demerara sugar and put in fridge.

When ready to eat, turn your grill up to its hottest and brown until the sugar melts, bubbles and caramelizes. Creme brulee - sort of. And it's yummy.
