I've just got a notebook and have a page for each thing.

    So for example...

    Ceremony

    Venue

    Car

    Photographer

    Sweet table

    Cake

My dress, shoes, underwear, accessories etc

    OH's suit, shirt etc etc

    Kids outfits etc

    Hair

    Make up

    Flowers

    You get the jist lol

Then on each page I have my idea, my final choice, my deposit paid, my balance owed, the dates payments have to be made by etc

Then as I do something, I just cross it out of the list, so I can see what I need to do/buy/book/pay etc
Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...

Here is a list that I posted earlier - a timeline of when things should be done.

You can easily note down what needs doing and when you have done it cross it off the list.

10 – 9 months – Initial meeting with your planner if using.

    Determine Date and time
Visit clergy – local church – book venue – confirm religious orientation
    Discuss venue requirements
    Discuss budget
    Size of guest list
Theme of the wedding – formal?
    Discuss Bridal dress styles
    Discuss and book reception venue
Select wedding dress – then wedding accessories

    9-6 months

    Pick colour theme
Discuss, choose and book live wedding band
Compile guest list – send save the date cards
Arrange meetings with caterers, photograher, videography, florist
    Choose attendents – confirm outfits
    Decide on ceremony music, poems/readings/vows
    Discuss Invitations' style
    Book suppliers (as above)

    6-4 months

    Place order for wedding stationery
    Organise wedding favours, decorations, placecards
    Book transport
Wedding cake – discuss and order
Book Honeymoon – think visa/vaccinations/travel insurance if applicable
All deposits to suppliers to be paid

    3 – 2 months

    Buy Rings
Arrange for registration of gift list
    Address and send invitations
Hair and make-up rehearsal - book

    1 month

    Finalise all aspects
    Confirm honeymoon details
Final fitting – Bride and attendents
    Marriage licence
    Pick up rings

    2 weeks

    Annoucement in local newspaper
Contact guests who have not responded
Pick up bridal gown and attendents outfits

    1 week

Confirm final number of guests with suppliers
    Table plan
    Full dress rehearsal
    Facial/fake tan
Final check – rings – licence – attire

    Day before wedding

    Dress reception venue/church if required
    Nails
    Confirm wedding day timetable
    Flowers/buttonholes delivery

    Wedding day

    Hair
    Make up
    Dressing
    Rings
    Licence
Pay all outstanding bills from suppliers
    Wedding announcements

  • Hey Rene

On every page of your wedding plan, make a note of different ideas for taking a bit of chill time to help you remind yourself that you have to work at not getting too stressed out!

There are also bags of on-line wedding planning applications that will remind you what to do and when, we used confeti.com for our wedding (you have to put up with some 'suggestions' for things you might want to buy, but the applications are good). Horace’s list is pretty comprehensive though.

A couple of things to be aware of that totally stressed my wife out are that 1) almost every time you go to arrange something (like booking a cake for example), you'll get a look of horror from the sales person when you say when the wedding is, that - Oh my, you're leaving this very late to organise! kind of look. Don't fall for this as quite often it's a trap to rush you into booking with them and not shopping around for the best deal. If they actually do think you've left it too late, they won't take your order and won't waste time in telling you that.
And 2nd thing that stressed my wife was that there are so many things you have to order way in advance (like the dress) and then you hear nothing about it for months! If you think about it, that's normal, you wouldn't expect to get your final dress fitting before Christmas when your weddings in July, but Man all that waiting is stressful! But if you ask with everything 'so when will I next hear from you' then you have a date in mind for when to worry if you haven't heard from them!

My last top tip is, when buying or booking stuff, wherever possible don't tell the company that its for a wedding, well not at first anyway. If you can get a quote or even an estimate before you have to mention the ‘W’ word, the company will find it much harder to hike the price up! Our favourite line was 'we're planning a really special celebration for my parents 40th anniversary...' saved us a fortune!
