I've just got a new Samsung netbook NC10. I've updated the XP files so I know my internet connection's ok but I now want to download my own choice of firewall, anti-virus, iTunes, Firefox etc etc etc.
IE8 lets me get as far as "save file" but when I hit OK, nothing happens....
Any help and constructive advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Have you looked in where files were supposed to be saved ?0

Usually saved in....... my documents>my downloads.0

Did you click on the cream coloured security warning bar which comes up across the screen just below the menus. You have to do this to allow the download after clicking save file.0

Thanks for your replies.
It's not that I can't find the file, and I've set it to bypass the security tab about the download.
I get the "do you want to save or run?", I choose save, select the location and hit save... then nothing happens. I can tell from the lights on the router that it's not worked. If I try "run" rather than "save", I get the same problem.
Any ideas?

You might try a system restore to before you updated if restore point available.
Do you have SP3 ?0 -
You could try installing Firefox (if you can download it - possibly on another PC). If you then install it and try downloading with Firefox it will confirm if it is an IE problem or not.0

Thanks for the suggestions, I installed Firefox from a memory stick and downloads work fine from Firefox.
I'll not worry about whatever's clogged up IE0 -
Glad it worked. To be honest you are probably better off using Firefox rather than IE anyway.0
