I've got Intellichef and use it almost every day. I don't use normal pans any more,
You can cook pasta (no need to drain, it uses absorption and you can put the tomatoes or sauce in as well).
It cooks rice to perfection.
It's a slow cooker, but you can brown meat because it has a fry function as well.
Other functions: boil (it automatically brings the water to a boil then the timer kicks in, perfect for boiled eggs), steam (never used), stew, bake, reheat, keep warm.
The non-stick pan is of good quality. Instructions and recipes are not great, but it's a wonderful machine, I could not live without. It saves on so much hassle and washing up!0 -
Oooh now you're making me jealous of this intellichef. When mine dies (if ever) I now know what to go for!
I made yummy kedgeree in my 4-in-1 tonight. 20 minutes and it was done. Mmmmm0 -
This JML Star Chef Deluxe sounds very similar to the Intellichef but a bit cheaper at £100

lots of infommercials on TV for this lately.0 -
Very similar. It does not mention cooking pasta, also Intellichef can stew as well as slow-cook. But it can only keep food warm for 2 hrs (it's not recommended for longer anyway because bacteria can grow).
I would say you can get the IC for less money with offers, such as Costco mentioned by some people in another thread I think.0 -

I have an £8 steamer from Asda and I will never go back to boiling now.
You need a plastic dish (came with the asda one). I use 1 mug of rice for 2 people and a little over half a mug of water added to that rice. It steams in about 22 mins (depending on the type of rice) and I fluff it with a fork half way through. I find that the rice has a better flavour and consistency than boiled rice. You don't get lots of water swimming round the plate - plus there's less chance of you over-cooking it like there is with boiling.0
