Help! Getting married and have a budget of 8000, possible?

Options
Hi guys, I am really struggling to have a wedding for less than 8000! Thought it would be easy, but soooo hard. I want something classy, I would love Deia in Majorca, but am I being unrealistic??? x

  • Hi.

What we've done is each chosen three items that are really REALLY important to us and everything else is a "nice to have". Our budget is £6,000 and we're having 62 to the day and inviting 110 to the evening.

The two biggest factors in the cost of a wedding are location and number of guests. We're in the south east and our dream venue has a hire charge of £5,000 and minimum number of 85 guests. Oh and you can only choose a caterer from their approved list. Their approved list has one caterer on. We've been lucky and we've chosen a venue which is owned and run by our local council. We're making our own stationary and buying little bits as we go.

I'm getting married on less than £1500 TBH.

It all depends what you want!

What do you want? Tell us and I'm fairly sure we'll be able to help by suggesting things :)
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!

Emma - Deia is our most favourite place in the whole world. We've been going there for the past 34 years and it's wonderful. Went to a wedding there last year and apparently it's quite easy to organise. Jeans & t-shirt civil wedding here followed by RC or anglican service in the church - if anglican the vicar comes from Polensa. They had the reception at La Res but some of the guests were staying at Es Moli. There are lots of places to rent, though, including a former monastery which sleeps 15 just outside Deia on the Valldemossa road.

£8,000 sounds plenty! But it all depends on whether you'll be paying for guests' travel and accommodation?

Good luck with the arrangements :-)

Wedding is costing us about £3000 and then the honeymoon we're not sure about because we're hopefully buying a house next year too so it might have to wait!

  • My wedding cost 7.5k and for that i had the big white dress, 3 ushers suited and booted, church with the bells and choir, old rolls royce for bridesmaid and cadillac for me (oh yeah!!!) reception, caterers and that included all the favours, decorations, 4 tier cake and stand, wedding rings, hair for bridesmaids and me, makeup, jewellery and all gifts for the bridal party inc parents, 6 bridesmaids dresses and shoes etc so yes it can be done.
