Mortgage offer question

I have a mortgage offer from the Halifax. It is set to expire on the 31st Jan 2010. It looks like the house I am buying will still be under construction at that point (still a patch of dirt at the moment).
Now the product we got from Halifax is being discontinued.

My question - Can I change the product before the Mortage Offer expires?

If I wait until the offer expires and then reapply ( I cant ask for an extension as the product won't be there to extend) I would have to pay for valuation again. If I changed the product before the 31st Jan, I should avoid this outcome and get the extension I require.

Anyone able to clarify the situation. Cheers
