Late Mortgage Payment fees reclaim

Ages ago there was a link to a Scottish advice centre regarding reclaiming late motgage payments. Over the last 5 years, due to GE Money refusing to change my payment date by 4 days without charging huge interest payments, I have paid late by 4 days every month. They have sent me a letter saying they are going to add these charges to my loan, amounting over £5000. I sent a letter template asking them to refund etc and they have offered me £1000 as a gesture of goodwill. I am unsure whether I should accept this or continue for more of a refund. Does anyone have any ideas or links to help me?

Hi Jayney,
I also have a mortgage with GE Money and have had EXACTLY the same thing happen to me, except my charges are between £3 - 4,000.00
I would love to know where you got the letter template from, so that I can write to them also.
Good luck with yours and please let me know how you get on, they are outrageous.
Thanks, Tina0 -

What template letter?
This thread is 6 years old and about someone who claimed their payment date changed without notice. I doubt there is any template letter for someone in that situation.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
