Do you work from home?

I would really like to stay at home with my kids I will have to return to work for while after my mat leave but I'm looking for ways I might be able to make a realistic wage from home.

    Hello!

There are loads of ideas on this forum. I'm always working my way through them :D

Party plan is a biggie on here. If you fancy doing something like this, always choose something you have a passion for. Books, chocolate, cookware, jewellery, make-up, underwear.....

I sell Usborne Books and chose this because I have young children and we all love books. They are beautiful books so do sell themselves. I never wanted to return to my office job, so this has worked really well for me as it is very flexible.

Have a look at some of the other threads on here too for other ideas. Mystery shopping can be quite good.

    Good luck! :D

    Hiya Fantafan,

i work from home and have for past year but on different jobs not just the one, there are a few to choose from and more coming up all the time. If you go through this section theres a few, try searching
    lionbridge
    teletech
    contractxchange
    and this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1881065

Then you've got your partyplan threads and good site is people per hour, but its a bidding system but know quite a few who have found good paying work from it.

Just got to apply to loads and keep searching, until you get something you like ;) I've missed some but sure someone else will add them. HTH

Erm im sure surveys arent tax free. Your meant to declare any additional income. Im sure some dont but I always do. If you knew who my employer was you understand why.
  • i bet the huge majority of people who do surveys do not declare the extra money.

and anyway, we follow by example and our leaders are MP's. did any of them get prosecuted or jailed for fiddling expenses and claiming for mortgages that don't exist? no

so why should the poor public declare a little extra bit of income?

i wouldn't fancy using that as a defence if you got caught!
  • I'd have thought you'd have to do a lot of surveys to take you over the threshold to pay tax. I used to do a few but it found it took ages to make even a little bit of money.

Hi , I work from home , as does my wife . We are both foster carers and we also work for PartyLite ( selling candles and accessories in peoples homes through party plan ) . I can recommend party plan because it fits in with home life . You do have to work at it though , you start of with people you know then expand outwards . We do lots of school fairs and events and this really helps the business expand . Start off Part time then expand to more hours when the business gets off the ground . Weve been doing it 2 years now and now have an income of over £1200 a month . We also now have a team of about 15 consultants .

Check out www.comparextraincome.com and it will show you all the party plan companies and what they can offer . Some require you to buy start up kits , others dont .

Working from home and being our own boss was the best thing we have ever done , we have financial freedom , and the ability to shift things around the family . We dont have to juggle things around constantly, and at least one of us is always around for the kids .

Very interesting Candlesrus, can you sell the whole year round. I once tried to make a business of making and selling candles and found that people were really only keen at Christmas time. Has this attitude changed?
