I can officially join the board! Any hints/tips for a November Wedding!

Hi all,

After following the board for the past month I can finally join in! Now that we've told everyone!:T

We're going for a November 2010 Wedding, and it will be a Church service followed by a Marquee in DF Parents garden!:j

Need to see the vicar to confirm the date/time etc and then will get on with the daunting task of planning a wedding!

I will be making and decorating my own cake and will most properly ordering my dress from Milly Bridal and thats about all i know!

Will be looking forward to reading all the threads with interest!:T and any hints any winter brides have i'd love to hear them!

If you are having a marquee on the lawn make sure that you have a boarded floor with carpet laid on top - you don't want carpet just laid directly onto the ground because it will squelch when wet. Ask the marquee company to provide drapes, lighting and more importantly heaters as it will be cold. Have lights in the garden too so that the path to the house and toilets are clearly illuminated.

You need to decide on a theme and when you have that decide on your colour scheme. Search for photographers, rings, flowers (find flowers that are in season as they will be cheaper - you can still have lovely flowers in winter). Think about your budget too as that is important. Think about the groom's suit, etc.

Think about your invitations - your guest list etc. Look at other areas on this forum for wedding tips as there are bits that give you a timeline of when things should be done.

Congratulations on your engagement and forthcoming wedding,:j
  • Hi there I just wanted to say welcome to the board and I hope you get lots of fab ideas. I would start on thinking about colours and themes, and looking for your dress. Make sure you have your venue booked aswell and the rest all comes from that! Just shout if you need anything! Tiger xx

Congratulations! We're getting hitched this November (6 weeks to go!!) and best bit of advice that I can think of for you is make sure you have a wrap/bolero/cloak anything warm to wear for the outside bits! I'm wearing red and having an autumnal theme, I figured with it being out of "wedding season" you can get away with a bit of colour and not just the flowers!
