Hi! thought i'd written this last night, but can't find it.....new to this so bear with me.

Basically had a letter from Capquest saying i owed £1000.........i was gobsmacked then recieved one from abbey saying they sold it to this company. Now this was from 1996 and they closed this account and i think this was the overdraft. At this time i was in loads of debt and the largest one was with Abbey who i currently bank with...Where do i stand can they ask for this after all this time.If i knew this debt was outstanding i would have organised a payment plan and cleared it.My poor partner is worried sick as he has nothing to with these debts and doesn't want people turning up on the doorstep...cx

  • When was the last time you had any communication from Abbey about this? When did you last make a repayment.

If it is over 6 years then the debt is statute barred.
  • dont worry about it, it's too old a debt now and is written off :)
Martin has asked me to tell you I'm about to cut the cheese, pull my finger.
  • Thanks for your replies.....I have had no correspodence since they closed this account 13 years ago....I have just sent a letter that i got off national debtline so hopefully that will sort it. thanks Cx
