Bread maker - spare part cost (Shock)

Hi,

I thought I'd share this with you as I think it is madness.

I have a hinari hb174 bread maker, the paddle is working loose and I'm not always getting a loaf out of it.

So I went to spares2go (the only site that came up on the search) they want

Are you ready for it?

Make sure you're sitting down

£29.96 (pence might be wrong)
JUST FOR THE PADDLE!!!!

I am sure I brought the entire machine for £30!

I haven't picked my jaw up off the floor yet!

Have you tried ebay - either for spare part of a new one? Or car boot...always one of those "unwanted gifts"!! Just a thought!

  • Thanks, I have no intention of buying it, TBH I would rather buy a new one from Tesco (getting discounts etc where possible) at least I would get a g'tee
    :)

Thanks for the advice though, I have borrowed a paddle from someone else's machine at the moment - they don't yet know *snigger*

I think they have some on offer this week in Lidl for £19.99 - I know its bad not to mend it and this is just making our throw away society even worse. But to cost more to mend than to buy new - no wonder we have overflowing landfil.

  • My son told me about the Lidl offer, but at the moment I have posted a WANTED: on free cycle :)

I have seen the same shape, colour, design etc on two other brands of bread maker one was goodmans the other was cookworks (I think) so I might keep an eye on ebay.

    Thanks & NN
