Collection Agency fees

Hi I'm currently reclaiming bank, credit card and loan charges on behalf of my partner going back to 2004 - 6. The debts had alreasy been passed to collection agencies when we got together, and in one case the original debt was £3,500, but with collection agency charges had risen to over £5,000. This seems completely unreasonable to me, and I wondered if there was a way of reclaiming these charges on the basis that they are unfair. I haven't found anything on the forum about this, so apologise in advance if there's already a thread about this.
