Help with LLoyds debt pls!

Hi,

I've been really getting to grips with organising my finances and am now at the stage where all my payments are up to date except one and I can now start to pay a little extra off, to snowball them.

I contacted all my creditors a few months ago, explaining I was in difficulty but was able to tell them I should be back to 'normal' again later this year as I'm self employed and my earnings have been getting a little better. Most of them took this on board and helped me by setting up temp arrangements - which is why I've been able to get them up to date.

Lloyds are the one fly in the ointment. I've found them quite helpful in the past, but found when I did things over the phone I was railroaded into making a minimum payment that was still higher than I could afford, so this time I did it all by letter.

I was asked to send in an I & E form, which I did, giving them exactly the same figures as all the other creditors, but have heard nothing since. Their first letter, asking for the I & E, came within a fortnight, but it's been about 2 months since I sent it back. They haven't phoned me though, which makes me think they must have the figures.

BUT, I do still keep getting statements showing my account getting further and further into debt. I have been making the minimum payments I told them I could afford, but it really is a drop in the ocean. It's now built up into hundreds and hundreds behind and still no word from them.

Any advice much appreciated!

HB

There's not really much you can do if the bank isn't willing to stop interest or charges. You could write to them again requesting confirmation that the letter was received and reiterating your request.

Have you looked into reclaiming your penalty charges back yet?

  • Hi

I used to work for this bank and the best advice I have is to call their Customer Support Unit. If you call them and explain the situation they should discuss your next options with you and hopefully can help. I know you said before they were not useful but that could have been one bad egg. Sounds like your getting nowhere by letter so call, call, call.

    Good luck!

We usually tell people that all communication should be in writing only (no offence LittleMissDebt). If you do call, request that any agreement made be confirmed in writing.
