Pumps/flats digging in at the back

I bought a pair of royal blue lace up flat pumps in Sainsburys yesterday for £4 in the sale.:j
I wore them today without socks and they are starting to dig in at the back of my heel. It wasn't until I felt this happening that I remembered I had a pair years ago that did the same thing.
Is there a trick to softening the backs up or do I just need to wear socks/plasters?
They are very beautiful and I would like to keep wearing them.
Thanks x

Shoes sometimes naturally loosen up and relax, or be softened if they are leather with special solutions and methods, but if they are not leather this may be harder to do. I normally just put on some clear plasters before i put my shoes on. Its annoying but effective. I have very delicate feet and literally every type of footwear gives me blisters...i have found plasters to be the best. Sometimes even with socks as i find some shoes can rub through the socks. If you dont want to do that, just keep some plasters in your bag for emergancies."You dont need a weather man to know which way the wind blows"0

I know it sounds daft but I stand on the backs for bit, it softens the leather and makes it less stiff and moulds to your foot more when its soft.
Just keep loads of plasters in your purse just incase. I'm dead funny with shoes (my OH would say I'm funny with most things) put if I don't wear two pairs of socks my feet bleed or blister, I have the softest feet in the world given how much walking and hiking I do!I run an event management company, I put on events, I go to events, if I don't know anything about events - its not worth knowing!:j:j:jNegotiate, Negotiate, and Negotiate again.:j:j:j0 -
Thanks, I feared it might be a plaster job, they are canvas not leather so not sure if they will soften up. My feet are a bit delicate too!0

If new shoes are hurting you then the best thing to do is
leave them off until you get use to them.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

How do you get used to them if you don't wear them, lol?
Try sitting while watching tv or something and rubbing the stiff area between your finger and thumb for a while. It usually helps to break down the stiffness.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
i have this happen to me when i get new shoes.
apart from using plasters (or those large 'blister' plasters which have a big foamy centre) for the moment, i alternate with other shoes so that my feet slowly get used to a new shape of shoe. if possible i bend the back down to soften it abit. i sometimes need to use a shoe stretcher. and i buy those suede sticky heel backs which i stick to the back of the shoes. sometimes they get a bit unstuck through wear but i just superglue them back again. i think you can get gel versions of these too but i like the suede ones. i used to buy them from woolworths, but im not too sure if john lewis will do them. sainsburys/tescos/bodycare/superdrugs may - if i see them there i'll confirm it back here. they are usually with the shoe polishes and insoles. boots may do them - like the slingback gel strips - they may help.0 -
I went through this earlier in the year with canvas shoes, they WILL soften eventually.
I'd wear them around the house with a thind pair of socks, or two pairs of low dernier tights (laddered pop socks or thin trouser socks are ideal for this purpose) the two thin layers helps prevent rubbing a little. 0 -
I got a pack of 6 suede heel grips to put in the heels of my shoes and they work really well. I love buying shoes but it takes forever for me to break them in, and my heels blister so easily.
These work really well for a couple of £'s from Ebay - well worth buying.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

I don't know how it works but my Nan use to say it when we were kids, so it must be true.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
