Swap Photography for Mechanic

This morning, I've had to drive 2 hrs to Scarborough (and 2 hours back) to collect my sample albums from a Hotel. Foolishly I left them there last weekend when I went to visit a couple.

During this time I was thinking of how un-economical the whole process was and that if I'd have though more beforehand I could have offered a free MSE trip from Leeds to Scarborough (or reverse to anyone who needed one).... grrrr.

Anyway, the journey got me thinking about my photography work and my need for both of my cars to undergo a full service, and I had a thought...

If there is an MSE Mechanic out there who is getting married and wants a professional photographer for the day, I'd be interested in a straight swap : Wedding Photography (labour only) for a full service & repair of both of my cars (labour only).

I'm not sure of the value of 2 full services and repairs, but for full coverage of a wedding with images supplied on a disk, I'd normally charge £495.

Finally, I hope this fits within MSE Rules, if not, many apologies.

Stuff if it fits any rules, I think that is a brilliant idea. A swap shop of services is very MSE and could save people £££££££ :D
:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:

What a fab idea! If only my OH was a mechanic I would have taken up your offer! x
  • Its a fab idea. (not sure if it breaks the rules though)

Wish i was, or knew a mechanic - i'd have bitten your hand off.

I'm sure there was a couple who managed to get there whole wedding paid for by offering their services as odd job people, like being a waiter/waitress at the hotel where they wanted to hold their reception etc etc. Good on them wish i could do that too.
:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!

  • I'm pleased people are thinking this is a good idea. Hopefully there is an MSE member out there who can benefit. Weddings can be an expensive time of your life so anything we can do to keep the costs low whilst still enabling a great time with super memories can only be a good thing.
  • type into google wedding swap shop. :) there is a website where you cold post your idea and it's allowed :)

Not allowed on here though thats why i made a new site :)
What's yours is mine and what's mine is mine..
  • Hello... My partner is a trained mechanic... We are getting married in May 2010 and don't have a photographer yet set in stone so the offer of a swap sounds great...
Let me know how you would like to proceed... Thank You, Lizi
  • So it appears that my idea is a good one and thanks to sleathy for contacting me. I promise promise promise to do my absolute best for your wedding day. In fact I'm more nervous about your day than any other I've done. Byeeeee.
