Washable chair covers- no instructions!

Hi all,
I was hoping that in your collective infinite wisdom you'd be able to help.
We're soon to be moving out of our rented flat. There were 4 modern dining chairs, the ones with the chair covers. I've taken them off to wash as they are either pale cream or white, but I have no idea which...
The problem I have is that there are no washing instructions on any of the covers. I don't want to shrink them as that would be disastrous for our deposit! Has anyone washed any of these before? I've got the vanish oxy powder specially for whites, but really I need to know what temperature and setting I should wash them on as am concerned re: shrinkage!
Thanks,
Caroline

I think problem solved, they look like the ikea ones and helpfully the site had the washing instructions for the covers so I've put them in at 40 degrees with some vanish and biological washing powder.
I might be back, however, to ask how you stretch chair covers...**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

Before you do, put them back on the chairs while they're still slightly damp!!:D0 -
easy carolinosaurus - just put them back on the chairs a bit damp!!!0

I hung the covers out after they'd come out of the machine, then about 30 mins after I hung them, I thought, I'd better just see if I can still get them on... I had a go and it was really REALLY tough going! But I got all 4 of them back on with no rips and they look good as new**Thanks to everyone on here for hints, tips and advice!**:D

They might have been tight to put back on if the fabric was dry clean only.
I washed a pair of curtains once without a label, they must have been dry clean only because they shrunk by a good inch all round.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

they dont need to be dry clean only rikki to shrink - most cotton fabrics will shrink especially on first wash!
btw carolinosaurus - meant to say before but forgot (and i was too late anyway i think) the instructions for my sofa covers were to wash at 30 degrees and the sods still shrunk !!0
