Honeymoon Fund Website

Hi,

We're getting married in January but as we've lived together for many years don't need a wedding list. We've decided that we'd like people to fund part of our next holiday instead, so have considered a cheap wishing well, however I realise that some will find that tacky.

I had heard of a website for funding travelling where people can leave donations but can't remember what it was, does anyone know?

Thanks

    Prepare for a flaming lol

The general concensus on most forums is that asking for money in any shape or form is tacky, rude etc. (not my opinion but i thought i'd warn you)

Most travel agents now do a similar service, or you could ask for vouchers for the agent you'll be travelling with. Personally after the wrapit fiasco i have a problem trusted any wedding lists that aren't linked to big company I don't think are gonna go bust

I don't think it's tacky and chipping in for a holiday is a lovely thing to do.
More and more people are living together for many years before getting wed and a cash gift makes much more sence than 3 toasters and 4 kettles. It's not nice to know the gift you've got someone has been returned to the shop.

In many other cultures cash is the only gift given.

  • You can ask for holiday vouchers, people can just go into your nominated travel agent and buy them for you. This option would be easier for people whi are not so good on the net aswell! I think i's a nice idea. Tiger xx

  • I am suprised the general opinion of money giving is tacky and rude!!!!! I think far the opposite!!!!! We are going to be asking for money tro be given to my father to help us actually BUY a house. Much more useful than a list I saw which asked for bird seed and a bird bath!!!

So FLAME me, but come on get the with the times!
  • Sorry Keith I have no idea about an online thing. The travel agent "vouchery" type thing is a fab idea as I believe people can also buy you excursions that you want and things like that.

    Good luck xxx
  • We are going to ask for money to fund our Honeymoon too!

We were going to do this but after discussing it we decided against this because the said holiday company may not have what we want or my be cheaper elsewhere so we decided on cash :)

My guests are also no good on the net so we are sending a little poem out to them explaining why we would like money and no gifts

There are quite a few Honeymoon Gift Registers around, most (I'm not sure about all) you have to pay for - having a quick look around it seems to be about £50 which isn't bad for keeping it all in one place.

Thanks all, we decided to ask for Thomson vouchers as we've just returned from a lovely cheap holiday with them and they fly from our local airport.

It was actually the trailfinders website I was trying to remember originally!
