Hi everyone
I have felt pretty rough with nausea, tiredness and a bad stomach for the last few days. I looked at sme of the food in the fridge today, and realised the egg free mayonnaise I had used on Monday had a greasy brown mark inside the lid on the edge, like it maybe had been knocked and ruined the seal, with the little bit of mayo inside that edge of the lid brown and 'off'. It doesn't have one of the 'pop-up' lids, so I hadn't noticed before.
I am feeling pretty worried now, as I know how bad canned and jarred foods can be that haven't sealed properly. Should I go and get myself checked out? I am still not feeling good.
The main ingredients in the mayonnaise are sunflower oil (51%), water (33%) and vinegar (probably around 15-20%) if that makes any diffference. I didn't notice a problem with the flavour at the time, but I am not sure if that means anything or not?
Thank you!

NHS direct will be able to give you a qualified opinion.
An internet forum on saving money will not.
Hope you feel better soon either way.0 -
If you had it once on monday and it was off, i really don't think it would still be making you ill now, but to be on the safe side I would chuck it, hope you feel better soon x0

Leave a smear of any sort of mayo out exposed to the air and it will congeal like that. I really doubt you've been poisoned by it. I would chuck it though, because you won't feel like eating it anyway.
As to why you're not feeling right? Well, we're not supposed to offer medical advice here. If you feel worse over the weekend or not better by Monday then yes, see a doc. But really, there are plenty of things that can give you these symptoms and serious food poisoning from a jar of mayo kept in the fridge is probably one of the less likely. Actually the first thing that popped into my head was "pregnant??", lol.Val.0
