The sunbeds at the hospital are stronger and have only one type of ray where as the sunbeds have another type of ray. I cant remember it its the uva or uvb rays.
He uses prescription stuff already, and for a long while (since the onset really) various prescriptions have been really very good, but they seem to work less well over time, (which I understand to be fairly common?) and though his psoriasis is far from terrible it is increasing rapidly -we think this is partly a move to being in UK more, an partly because of other changes - being in a more office bound job and being in a heated/airconditioned environment- giving up heating cleared it entirely before, but he can't do that in a shared office! He has learned in the past its easier to try nd keep it at bay than get bad patches better.0 -
There are small (handheld) UVB lights that he could try on smaller areas. If you search for "Dermfix 900 UV-B" it'll bring one up. They start at 150 though... A full UVB sunbed seems to cost 1000s.0

it can be affected by anything, it is mostly caused by stress, passed on my family members and some people think that the lights in the office make it worse. There are loads of creams and ointments that can be used but over time they don't work either. The light treatment and the sunbeds will not get rid of it completely. It will only make it go away for a while. There is some tablets and new on the market there is injections where u do not have to have too much time off work if that is what he is worried about. There is also some oil from avon with helps aswell.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

I would do some research on the internet about it and see what is out there and see if he would like to go for it. If he talk to his boss and see if he could get time off for the light treatment at the hospital. It takes less than 5 minutes. With all these treatments though there is side effects that he might have to he needs to be aware of them as well.cross stitch cafe #90 UFO's 6 to finish in 2013, and loads of new kits to boot

On average about £1 for 3 minutes. Start off with just a few minutes 3/4 as they may have just got retubed or the strength may be too much for this skin.
Also ask for a towel and put it over his face.New York ♥..........These street will make you feel brand new, Big lights will inspire you.

Its not possible, sadly, for more than one reaon, some get roundable some not. Firstly we live (and he goes to hospital, though this could change) over 100 miles from where he works. Seconly, he travels frequently (say 3 weeks out of four he'd be mssing an appointment, not fir to the hospital and smeone else waiting for access to this treatment)!catwoman150 wrote: »I would do some research on the internet about it and see what is out there and see if he would like to go for it. Savvysue, I think he has foun them, but I'll check....if not I should check it out anyway.

I guess it's not just the time needed for the treatment (which DH always found happened at the time scheduled rather than the long waits you sometimes get at other outpatient appointments) but the time needed to get to and from the hospital, AND the need to schedule work things around your appointment times.catwoman150 wrote: »I would do some research on the internet about it and see what is out there and see if he would like to go for it. DH has been fortunate to be able to have light treatment (not for psoriasis) and to be able to walk to the hospital from work, but it's taken a good half hour out of every day he's had an appointment, and he is pretty much in charge of his own diary. Not everyone is so fortunate!
Having said that, if the specialist thinks it would help, and other things aren't helping, it could be worth talking to the boss and seeing if somehow space could be created for it. It has made SUCH a difference to DH's skin, and therefore made him more productive!
I see I cross-posted. The distance to hospital could be problematic, coupled with the travelling, however it is possible that the treatment could be carried out at a different hospital to where he sees the consultant. That doesn't get round the difficulty that your OH travels most weeks, that's where talking to the boss comes in ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
In my area there are often deals such as 60 minutes for a tenner.0
