I Just got a letter from my banks solicitors offering me all my charges black plus my court fee. So after my dilemna of "can i afford the court costs on my cc" it was definitely worth it!!!! All done before i even got the statement

Good luck to anyone else who is in the throws of this. My debt will go down £1000 when that hits my account

Well Done, thats fantastic. I have been umming and ahhing for months now about doing it. Not just over the court costs, but just scared in case it Backfires on me. But I am gonna print that letter NOW! Thanks for giving me a boost to do it!! And again, great news for you!!0

I too was worried, especially as it cost me £120 to do it on my credit card. But i am so glad i did now. Go for it xx
Now sunk in that i am going to get the money back. Whats the best way to use it? Do i just leave it in there so i'm not so overdrawn?
I owe a friend £200, which ive been paying off monthly at £100
I owe my store card £200 which i have to use for petrol as i dont have enough pennies left after bills etc to pay for ( i pay a bit off this card each month)
then i've got my cc's
should i pay off the card and friend and leave the rest for life/death emergencies?
or pay the rest off my cc. I am wary of using it all as technically it is still the banks money as it only clears half of my overdraft so i still owe them 800Last bet : 26th Oct 2006:j Debt free 25th Feb 2008:j Living "my" dream:T0 -
Yahoo...well done you & I am sure a great encouragement to those going through the process so thanks for posting! Re what to pay its not clear what your situation is but think the rule of thumb is pay the one off with greatest rate of interest! Re your friend thats more of a moral ? & I would pay the friend first regardless of interest rate as friendshio more valuable than saving money & I bet they'd be dead chuffed to have the money back & wouldnt it be fab if you shared your sucess & thanked them by doing something nice like cooking them a nice meal! Great news, well done :T :T
Agree with fishface - friends money first, then debt with highest APR.Back on the DFW Wagon:
CC - £3,300 on 0% til 04/2020
CC - £4,500 on 0% til 02/2019
Loan - £12,063.84 as at 4/1/180 -
well done you
i have a claim at the mo and have just filed with the court so am really encouraged to see your message.
i would def pay off your friend first.
congrats again0 -
OK, silly question time!! How are people running up charges of thousands of pounds in the first place? When i first heard about claiming back the charges, i noticed my wife hda been charged £60 over a year for being over drawn.
Are there other charges you lot are claiming back that i should know about (and perhaps add to my wifes claim!!)
Ta!0 -
You can go back six years. You have to write the standard letter on the reclaim bank charges forum, asking for the last 6 years statements. The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

Isn't it the unauthorised overdrafts that really rack up the charges? Mine is authorised and I get charged around £1 a month when it's in the red... dunno what the unauthorised charges are though?
Also if you're overdrawn, the banks sometimes won't pay direct debits and then charge you £30 per direct debit for failing to have enough money to cover them!0
