Weekend jobs - sharing knowledge

Hey everyone!
I need to face the facts that I need to get a weekend job as I am in debt and my Monday to Friday job just isn't making any inroads. I have done it before and I will do it again but I thought it would be useful to share knowledge with anyone in a similar situation. So obviously I wondering about how to get the best hourly rate without doing anything illegal
Is anyone working a Monday to Friday job and then at the weekends? I've started looking into supermarket check-out positions and as I understand it Sainsburys offer £6.07 an hour & the Co-operative £5.85....as the minimum wage is £5.80....I think I will be applying to the highest bidder!
Cheers

Hey LYM,
Im not exactly working working at the weekend, but I do spend a good 3 hours on a Saturday trawling the charity shops in st andrews looking out for designer gear hidden away. I stick it on Ebay and usually make £3 - 5 profit per item. Last month I made over £150 on ebay and only 'worked' about 7 hours (in the charity shops and online).
I also do mystery shopping and paid surveys, although I havent done any for a while, once you get going you can make a good few bob a month.
If you want a 'proper' job and are good with people Id recommend waitressing (in a nice restaurant of course)... the brits do tip and in a posh place they'll tip 10% or so. Keep the tips as 'fun' budget and leave the wages in the bank to pay the debts off.

I got about £6.50ph doing bar work in a hotel last year. The Christmas party season starts soon and hotels, golf clubs, country clubs, restaurants etc are always looking for extra staff. Can be hard work and long hours but you get to have some fun.
I work Mon-Fri and used to do Fri and Sat nights in the hotel and then have Sunday as a rest day.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Hi jojonic
Thanks for your reply. I used to do mystery shopping a few years back, although it was good I found the benefit was in the 'additionals' i.e. not money in your pocket but a free meal or free sandwich etc. I need hard cash now! Ha ha! Waitressing sounds good actually although I would feel a bit nervous about it...but I should investigate it....good idea...I live next to quite a posh area so may well be a goer.
Hmmm!

If you're looking for something where you can pretty much choose your own hours, and you're ok at typing, then I'd recommend doing audio transcription work. I started doing this a few months back and it has been a godsend. You do need to buy a transcription kit (I got mine for £50 off eBay) but it's a case of 'speculate to accumulate'.
I got into it by simply emailing a load of companies I found on google and asking them for work. You can make £5-10 per hour, depending on how quick you are at typing and the quality of the audios. It also means you can do the work whenever you like and can fit it in around your social life. I don't work at all on the weekends and do all my typing in the evenings after work. I make about £100-200 a month from that alone.
Just another option for you!

I work an extra two evenings so I can keep my weekends free, I was doing four evenings, but that was hard going. Its shop work in one of those late night shopping centres, its minimum wage, but its easy work, which is worth taking into consideration if you have been working all day or week
Compare the add on perks too, I get quite alot of freebies as they share out the damaged stock and there's the staff discount.
Good luck, hope you find something quickly x0
