soya flour in bread

  • Thanks for that kafka so we should be looking to cut down on animal products, or at least buy better where the animals have been fed a more natural diet. Does anyone know if soya feed is still used in organic farming?

Also back to bread, the loaf I bought from the bakery just says flour treatment added with no ingredients list, is this because it just has the basics in and nothing else? How do I know this doesnt contain soya flour?

Finally, is it normal to ask the bakery to slice a loaf for you, or should you slice it as you go?

thanks thriftlady, thats what i thought, isnt it soya they are growing in brazil and destroying the forest to grow it?

    Yes.

...and dont forget that most of the worlds soya beans are now apparently G.M. as well...

.....goes wandering off muttering "note to self....MUST MUST MUST make sure my bread is always homemade".....you should see the eyewatering price charged in my area for homemade bread by others:eek: - so have got to "get a grip" and make sure I make my own EVERY time.

That confuses me as well (probably meant too....) - ie the bit about "flour treatment".

Must go off and read that article I "stored" on my private blog about the "ins and outs" of why soya is such a bad idea all round - got the general gist that its down to manufacturers making oil from soya and then wondering what to do with this "industrial byproduct" - so they found ways to gussy it up and flog it to unsuspecting consumers. Summat like that anyway - bit like the "what can we do with the poisonous industrial byproduct called fluoride? - I know, throw it in the publics water supply to get rid of it and tell them its good for their teeth...".

Reet - must go off and read that article...
