Mortgage with Bankruptcy 3 years ago

Hi All,

I have been looking for a thread similar to my situation but cant find one so was wondering if anyone would give me an idea of what to do?

We have a mortgage at the moment with HSBC and have never missed a payment.

My husband went Bankrupt 3 years ago and was discharged 2 years ago.

But now we are thinking that because our family is growing our house is becoming a bit too small for us, so we would like to move.

My hubbys credit rating is quite good even though he was bankrupt.
He earns 50k a year basic. He gets comission but not sure you can include that.

Our house is worth 250k and we have about 50k in equity. After the secured loan we have.

Please could anyone tell me where i should go to get this new mortgage sorted or should i give up now??

Many thanks in Advance xx

In the current climate being a discharged bankrupt will not make it easy

What purchase prices were you looking at?

Do you not have any income to consider?

Will you have any other debts in the background? DO you have children?

DO you have an up to date copy of your credit files?

For this kind of scenario, I would recommend a whole of market mortgage adviser, as you would not want to damage your credit files, by running credit checks with lenders that will not be able to help

A broker will be able to find out quite quickly who could help.

  • Thank you for your kind advice!

I am a full time mum to 4 children and i also work 2 days a week. Other debts we have are small.

I think i will ask around our friends to see if anyone knows an independent mortgage advisor.

    Thanks again ;)
