Halifax visiting?

Hi,
I received a card in the post yesterday from the Halifax. I have seen other threads about similar ones, but I'm in a slightly different position:
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Our Representative will be calling your home on 18/10.
If this is not convenient please telephone 0845 6041433.
I have had a credit card with Halifax for years. Every month a DD pays the minimum amount. Three months ago I was tidying my current account and accidentally deleted the DD instruction. It too me two months to notice the payment was missed because I was out of the country, but when I did, I reinstated it and the following month was deducted as usual (with a £50 penalty automatically added).
I noticed that the minimum payment had been reduced to 1% which was too low, so I contacted them by letter. The next thing, I receive the card mentioned above.
I have never defaulted on anything except for those two months which I have already been charged a penalty for, but they seem to be getting really heavy handed by wanting to come to my home. I am worried that they have handed my credit card debt over to an agency, even though they are still drawing the DD.
Any advice on how to deal with this would be really appreciated.
Thanks

Is that the exact wording?
If it is, then it normally means that they will be phoning (calling
). But of course, they like it if you misunderstand and panic. Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Yes, that's the exact wording - but they can't telephone me at 'home' because they don't have my landline and we are ex-directory because we kept getting sales calls.
Agree, I'm sure they'd like it for me to panic! It's working in that I don't know why a representative (aka debt collector?) is even involved...0 -
Hi
Representative could just mean an employee in this instance rather than a DCA. Also even though they don't have your number this letter could still be an standard letter and they haven't checked they don't have a number for you. If you are worried as it is still a while until 18/10 you could send an amalgamation of 2 letters to say all future correspondance should be in writing and revoking their licence to visit you at home, along these lines below.
In the unlikely event that they do call at your home don't discuss your account with them and ask them to leave. What did your letter to them say? that you wanted to pay more than the minimum? Perhaps you could let the minimum go out by DD so you know its always been paid and then pay whatever extra you want by internet banking each month.
Dear Sirs,
Ref: XXXXXXXX
Please be advised that I require all further correspondence from your company to be made in writing only.
Furthermore, should it be your intention to arrange a “doorstep visit”, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make such an appointment with you.
There is an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v Sheppard & Short Ltd [1959] 2 QB 384. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and, if you do so, you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.
Yours faithfully,
